Abstract
- Local scour is prone to occur around offshore wind turbine pile foundation. The solidified soil protection has widely used in the field of subgrade treatment, bridge pier protection, etc., and the pilot research is gradually carried out in offshore wind turbine projects. Based on an offshore wind power project in a sand ridge sea area in the eastern part of Jiangsu Province, the numerical simulations are carried out by using Flow -3D to establish the models of offshore wind turbine monopile foundation under constant flow. Comparing with classical tests and empirical formulas, simulation results demonstrate that the model of offshore wind turbine monopile foundation without solidified soil protection can accurately simulate the flow field and predict the maximum scour depth. Also, there is a good agreement between the simulation results of monopile foundation model protected by solidified soil and the scanning pictures around the monopile. By comparing the retention rates and the maximum scour depths of solidified soil, the optimum protection radius of solidified soil is considered as 2 times of the pile diameter. Solidified soil protection is less effective in protecting the seabed where the flow velocity is over 4 m/s, which verifies that the solidified soil is generally designed to resist scouring by flow velocity of 4 m/s in practical engineering construction.
