Abstract

This paper is a preview of the complete biography of Francisco de Paula de Arrangoiz y Berzábal (1811-1892). He is an enigmatic character and to this day the authors who have dealt with him do not correctly point out the hard-biographical data such as his birth and death. In order to situate him and understand his social origin and trajectory, the years from 1799 to 1846 are covered. His family background, his academic training and his first two consular missions are studied in unexplored primary sources, delving into the lesser-known periods. A corollary is included, in which the period from 1847 to his death in 1892 is briefly reviewed. The findings concerning his last days are also a novel contribution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
