Abstract
- This article highlights eight individuals who are actively working to support and strengthen democratic norms. Cisco Aguilar, the Nevada Secretary of State, is focused on increasing trust in the voting process and protecting election workers. Steve Ballmer, the founder of USAFACTS, runs a nonpartisan website that provides accessible public data to help voters engage in informed debates. Ken Block, a former Trump campaign consultant, has written a book affirming the legitimacy of Joe Biden's win and expresses concerns about partisan election officials. Courtland Cox, a civil rights activist, is mobilizing volunteers to increase Black voter turnout. Lauren Kunis leads a nonpartisan group that assists eligible voters in obtaining state identification and navigating voting rules. Chad Lorenz is the editor-in-chief of VOTEBEAT, a nonprofit newsroom that covers elections and voting, debunking conspiracy theories and influencing policy changes. Stephen Richer, the Maricopa County Recorder in Arizona, has stood up against misinformation in his party and faced personal challenges as a result. Janice Winfrey, the City Clerk of Detroit, has overseen elections for nearly two decades and continues to do so despite threats of violence.
