Abstract

This article explores the impact of different treatments on patients with plaque psoriasis. It specifically focuses on the use of epigenetic 'clock' algorithms to determine the biological age of patients. The study found that individuals who responded poorly to treatment had an accelerated biological age compared to those who responded well and healthy individuals. Furthermore, the study discovered that phototherapy treatment had a positive effect on biological age and leukocyte composition in psoriasis patients, bringing them closer to the biological age of healthy individuals. These findings suggest that DNA methylation-based algorithms can be used to assess the effectiveness of psoriasis treatments and gain a better understanding of the molecular changes associated with the disease.
