Abstract

This article discusses the prevalence of atopic dermatitis (AD) and psoriasis among indigenous people in Brazil. The researchers accessed a Brazilian national database to gather information on AD and psoriasis diagnoses between 2010 and 2022. They found varying rates of AD and psoriasis across different regions of Brazil. The study highlights the importance of understanding the epidemiology of these skin conditions in indigenous populations for effective healthcare planning and interventions. The study found that the prevalence of AD and psoriasis is lower among indigenous populations compared to urban populations, particularly in remote regions like the Yanomami territory. However, it is important to note that AD and psoriasis can still occur in indigenous communities, especially those located near or within urban areas. [Extracted from the article]
