Abstract

The article focuses on new motion picture actors in the United States. Nowadays callow, smooth-faced youngsters are catapulted to stardom overnight and asked to display the magnetism and skills of their carefully groomed predecessors. Foremost among this new male breed are actors Richard Beymer, Troy Donahue, George Hamilton, George Chakiris and Mickey Callan. They have managed to snag plum roles and emerge as popular actors in the United States. Somewhere between the top and the bottom resides Hollywood's robust new wave, more likely to score where Beymer, Donahue, Hamilton, Chakiris and Callan may fumble.
