Abstract
- A 65-year-old woman developed acquired apparent mineralocorticoid excess syndrome (AME) while taking radix-glycyrrhizae, a nutritional supplement. She had a history of asthma and was previously diagnosed with hypertension and was taking olmesartan-medoxomil. She presented with high blood pressure, headache, chest tightness, anxiety, tremor, diaphoresis, and agitation. After investigation, it was determined that the AME was caused by the radix-glycyrrhizae. The woman's medication was discontinued and her symptoms resolved. [Extracted from the article]
