Abstract
- The article discusses the role of the chemokine CCL28 in modulating neutrophil responses during infection with mucosal pathogens. The study found that CCL28 promotes neutrophil accumulation in the gut during Salmonella infection and in the lung during Acinetobacter infection. Neutrophils isolated from the infected mucosa express CCL28 receptors on their surface, and CCL28 stimulation enhances neutrophil antimicrobial activity. The absence of CCL28 in mice confers protection against Acinetobacter infection but makes them susceptible to Salmonella infection. These findings highlight the importance of CCL28 in the immune response to bacterial infections. The document also provides information on the materials and methods used in the study, as well as references to related scientific articles. [Extracted from the article]
