Terremotos en Ecuador en la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII: gestión y difusión del desastre.

This contribution analyses the earthquakes that occurred in Ecuador between the devastating ones of 1698 and 1797. Thus, the cases of 1755, 1757, 1778, 1786, and 1787 are dealt with. Through the use of official documentation and printed sources, we attempt to understand the management of the disaster by the Bourbon authorities during the second half of the century, as well as the post-disaster dissemination in reports of events, the press, pastoral letters, sermons, historical-geographical dictionaries, and history books.
