Abstract

The article discusses the use of beta-blockers in secondary prevention after a myocardial infarction, highlighting recent trials such as ABYSS and REDUCE-AMI. The trials suggest that stopping beta-blocker treatment may not be beneficial in terms of reducing the risk of death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, stroke, or rehospitalization for cardiovascular reasons. The results indicate that the use of beta-blockers in patients with a preserved left ventricular ejection fraction may need further evaluation before definitive guideline updates.
