Abstract

The 1980s in Latin America were the time of return to democratic rule, but also of the emergence of new forms of organization and participation. The ways of political participation and subjectivation changed during this time. There is little research that has addressed the historical development of the ideas of the social movements that emerged during this period. In Argentina, the role that Ecumenism and Liberation Theology played in the conceptualization of social movements is often overlooked. We argue about the existence of a Christian political-ideological matrix, understood as a tradition of objectification of the social and political, underlying what has been called the social left. We deal with the development of concepts and nodal categories in Argentine Ecumenism, as they appear in Alternativa Latinoamericana magazine (1985-1990). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
