Abstract

The article "DIABETES MELLITUS IN BRAZIL: HOSPITALIZATIONS AND DEATHS FROM 2019 TO 2023" published in the Revista Movimenta addresses the epidemiological characterization of cases of Diabetes Mellitus in Brazil between 2019 and 2023. The study reveals that the Southeast region had the highest prevalence of hospitalizations (38.5%) and deaths (36.7%), with a highlight for the age group of 60 to 69 years in hospitalizations (24.3%) and 70 to 79 years in deaths (26.4%). The female gender had a higher death rate (52.5%), while the male gender had a higher prevalence of hospitalizations (51.7%). It is concluded that special attention is needed for the elderly with Diabetes Mellitus and the implementation of prevention and health promotion actions to minimize the impacts of the disease.
