The Relationship of SCD56 and SCD16 Quantitative Indicators with the Level of Immunocompetent Cells, Cytokines, Circulating Immune Complexes, and Cyclic Nucleotides in Nearly Healthy People Living in the Arctic Territory.

Abstract

We studied the level of immunocompetent blood cells, phagocytic activity of neutrophils, concentrations of cytokines, circulating immune complexes and levels of cyclic nucleotides (cAMP and cGMP) in blood serum with different levels of soluble adhesion molecules NCAM (CD56) and immunoglobulin Fc-receptor III (CD16) in nearly healthy people living in the Arctic territory. An increase in serum concentrations of sCD56 and sCD16 in nearly healthy adults of working age was found to be associated with an increase in the level of cells bearing the corresponding membrane receptors. An increase in sCD56 concentrations was accompanied by an increase in the level of NK (CD3-CD16+CD56+) and T-NK cells (CD3+CD16+CD56+), whereas an increase in sCD16 level, by a decrease in the counts of lymphocytes circulating in blood, mainly, T-helper cells (CD3+CD4+), cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CD3+CD8+), and activated T-lymphocytes (CD3+HLADR+). Elevated sCD56 concentrations were associated with the increased levels of pro-inflammatory IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and anti-inflammatory IL-10 cells. Concentrations of circulating immune complexes rose with increasing sCD16 and sCD56 levels. The signal conduction activity grew with increasing concentrations of CD16+ and CD56+ leukocytes of peripheral blood and sCD56+ leukocytes, and the shedding of these molecules occurred against the background of cAMP and cGMP decreasing concentrations.
