Abstract
- The first works to be consulted by those who want to learn about the life and wars of the Prophet Muhammad's are generally included in sîrah and maghāzî literature. All military activities (sariyyah and ghazawāt) carried out while the Prophet was alive are the subject of the field of maghāzî. However, the works written in different fields of Islamic literature also contain, information about the wars of the Prophet Muhammad. One of these fields is fiqh. In the fiqh literature, the extent of information contained about the Prophet Muhammad's wars and the historical values of these information are a matter of curiosity for researchers and have not yet been fully revealed. Many works have been written in the genre of tribute in the fiqh literature. Among the books written in this genre the first work that has survived to the present day is Abū Yūsuf's (d.182/798) Kitāb al-Harāj. In this work, the narrations about the wars of the Prophet Muhammad's have been investigated and presented by us before. The second work written in this genre that has survived is Yahyā b. Adam's (d. 203/818) Kitāb al-Harāj. This work, which deals with various issues in the field of public finance, also includes information about the wars. In this article, the information contained in Yahyā b. Adam's (d. 203/818) Kitāb al-Harāj will be analysed in terms of which ghazāws the information belongs to, the distribution of this information according to the sections, and the sources of the maghāzî narrations.
