Abstract

Indonesia is a country with many active seismic zones. A place where the world's big plates gather. In order to reduce the impact of sudden earthquakes, it is necessary to carry out a regional assessment within Indonesia. Research on the choice of the Ground Motion Prediction Equations (GMPEs) is very important. It is important for estimating the damage caused by earthquakes. A special area of Yogyakarta is a highly active seismic zone. The aim of this research is to obtain GMPEs that can predict the acceleration of earthquake ground motion (peak ground acceleration) in the Yogyakarta Special Region. Five GMPEs models implemented on strong motion records from one of the Yogyakarta Special Region seismic stations were used. The quality of GMPEs in ground motion prediction was tested using the Likelihood Method and Pearson's correlation coefficient method. The best existing model has characteristics that match the area of Yogyakarta in terms of size, depth, hypocenter distance, site conditions, etc., and can be used as a reference for risk assessment in Yogyakarta. A scenario-based risk assessment is then performed by simulating the best-fit model. The results of this risk assessment are estimated losses due to earthquakes, asset statistics, and loss mappings for each region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
