Abstract
- This paper analyzes the activity of teleworking from a gendered perspective based on data collected from, on the one hand, two online consultations carried out in 2020 and 2021 during the sanitary crisis and, on the other hand, based on field observation of hybrid work (allowing some employees to work remotely while others work on-premises) in the public sector. In the light of the dimensions of telework studied by the Anact-Aract network (availability of hardware and digital tools, quality of workspaces, workload and work-life balance, team relations, management) the issue of balance between constraints and resources during individual or team-work arise differently for women and men. We observe that an easy access to telework foster employees' autonomy but may also reinforce or create new risks. While teleworking was justified before the crisis to ensure a better work-life balance, these findings show how teleworking can both provide leverages and obstacles for equality and health at work for women and men. This paper will propose some actions but also hypotheses to be investigated in more details. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
