Abstract
- This paper presents ten Greek inscriptions that were recently discovered in the Jordanian ḥarrah. The discoveries were made during the 2018 and 2023 seasons of the Badia Epigraphic Survey (BES). This paper adds to an ever-growing corpus of Greek inscriptions that attest to the use of and experimentation with Greek, seemingly by nomadic communities. A second set of inscriptions demonstrates the penetration of Christianity into the Syro-Arabian desert at a later date, with the use of Christian formulae, onomastics, and crosses.
