Abstract
- The article "Myeloproliferative Neoplasms and Dementia Risk: A Population-Based Cohort Study" published in the European Journal of Haematology in 2025 explores the association between Philadelphia chromosome-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and dementia risk. The study, conducted in Denmark, found that patients with MPNs had a 1.15-fold increased incidence of dementia compared to the general population, with a stronger association observed in men with MPNs. Chronic inflammation in MPNs was highlighted as a potential risk factor for dementia development. The study also used chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) as a control disease, showing a decreased dementia incidence in CLL patients. Further research is needed to understand the gender-specific differences and potential preventive strategies for dementia in MPN patients. [Extracted from the article]
