Abstract
- The research aims to determine the frequency of online shopping addiction among young people studying at university and to offer solutions within the scope of social work practices. The research was conducted using the general survey model. The sample was selected by stratified sampling method and consists of a total of 300 students. A questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. The questionnaire includes personal information form and Bergen Shopping Addiction Scale. According to the findings of the study, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between mother's education level and online shopping addiction. It was determined that online shopping addiction was seen more frequently in individuals with a high level of maternal education. The study also showed that the frequency of arguments with family and friends affected the level of online shopping addiction. It was concluded that the discussions with family and friends increased with the increase in the level of addiction. It was also determined that individuals receiving psychiatric treatment were at higher risk for online shopping addiction. In conclusion, this study emphasises that online shopping addiction among young people is an important issue and that awareness should be raised in the field of social work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
