The ingestion of foreign bodies is a common problem in clinical practice and can be characterised by imaging methods, but most diagnoses are made during surgery. Less than 1% of patients will experience perforation. Clinical manifestations are varied and include: perforation, peritonitis, inflammatory plastron, obstructions and hemorrhages. We report four cases of GIT perforation caused by fishbone, with the preoperative diagnosis made by ultrasound and computed tomography of the abdomen, followed by successful endoscopic and video laparoscopic intervention, as well as an objective review of the literature.
