Abstract

The article published in the Journal of Travel Medicine examines aircrew who flew while infectious with mpox during the 2022 outbreak in the United States. The study found that among the 44 aircrew identified, no secondary cases were reported among aircraft contacts. Most aircrew followed recommended precautions such as masking and covering lesions, although some traveled with respiratory symptoms. The CDC provided guidance to airlines on educating aircrew about mpox transmission and developing flexible leave policies to support infected aircrew. [Extracted from the article]
