Abstract

Published data analysing entry and progression of mature students has generally been aggregated over all subject areas, or broken down into broad areas such as Arts or Sciences. In this paper we discuss mature students in the single subject area of mathematics, in a single institution, the University of Southampton. UCCA figures for mathematics have enabled us to make some comparisons with 'traditional' universities. We discuss some features of the age distribution, entry qualifications, degree class distribution, non-completion rates and gender distribution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
