Abstract
- The article discusses the diagnostic accuracy of using photoacoustic imaging (PAI) for cutaneous malignant melanoma. The study combines PAI with established methods like dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) to improve diagnostic precision. Results show that PAI can visualize endogenous chromophores and aid in diagnosing skin lesions, with a 20% increase in sensitivity when combined with RCM. The study emphasizes the potential of advanced imaging techniques in reducing unnecessary skin biopsies and healthcare costs, highlighting the importance of operator expertise and cost-effectiveness in implementing these technologies.
