Abstract

This research paper is a reflective exercise concerning a philosophy of difference. As a pre-text, the narrative by Joao Anzanello Carrascoza, Sign of the Times (Señal de los tiempos) has been selected. Based on this narrative text, a manner of text will be propitiated in which two words will be intoned; "natality", as in Hannah Arendt, and "otherness", as in Emmanuel Levinas, and will be especially treated. "Natality" is seen as an ineffable event and as an opening to the non predictable, because in some ways it encloses what is diferent, and what anguishes and frightens us to the point of making it unbearable: and "otherness", the face which demands the imperative "do not kill", with the option of forgetting or negation.
