Abstract

A 38-year-old man with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with mesalazine and unspecified steroids for an inflammatory bowel disease-like phenotype. Despite receiving mesalazine enemas and steroids, his symptoms persisted, leading to an abdominal perineal resection due to haemorrhagic shock. Subsequent examinations revealed reduced IgG levels and lymphocyte abnormalities consistent with CVID, and he is currently undergoing outpatient therapy with immune globulin and dupilumab.
