Abstract

Focuses on the disadvantages of using monofilament testing for diabetic peripheral neuropathy and the diagnostic role of magnetic resonance spectroscopy based on studies presented at the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Association held in June 2005. Association of the duration of diabetes with the prevalence of microvascular complications according to a study conducted by the International Diabetes Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Comparison of the effectiveness of microfilament testing with the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument and vibration threshold measures; Need for a neuropathy screening tool to have higher levels of sensitivity.
