Abstract

In order to assess the actual status of the Crocodylus acutus populations from northern Perú, Tumbes Region, from June 2002 to February 2003, diurnal and nocturnal surveys were conducted. A density of 0.19 indviduals / km was estimated. This is the lowest density for C. acutus worldwide. The following population structure was found: 82.61% juveniles, 4.37% subadults and 13.09% adults. This is similar to population structures reported elsewhere. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
