EL "COCODRILO DE TUMBES" (Crocodylus acutus Cuvier 1807): ESTUDIO PRELIMINAR DE SU ESTADO ACTUAL EN EL NORTE DE PERÚ.

In order to assess the actual status of the Crocodylus acutus populations from northern Perú, Tumbes Region, from June 2002 to February 2003, diurnal and nocturnal surveys were conducted. A density of 0.19 indviduals / km was estimated. This is the lowest density for C. acutus worldwide. The following population structure was found: 82.61% juveniles, 4.37% subadults and 13.09% adults.
