Abstract
- This article argues that women can use their athletic experience to their advantage when running for political office. Women who participate in sports find themselves in a position where they can make the connections that are sometimes limited to them because of the professions they choose or the families they have to raise. Sports can help candidates portray a balance between the feminine and masculine characteristics which are demanded of them because of their gender. This article also provides an analysis of the 2002 Commission on Opportunities in Athletics established by the George W. Bush Administration and its recommendations on the future of Title IX.
