Abstract

This article presents the findings of the nineteenth Annual Salary Survey of the journal "Computerworld," which studied the compensation and bonuses of 14,253 information technology (IT) workers in the U.S. IT raises still lagged behind the average for all U.S. workers as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. While the majority of respondents said that their 2004 base salary increased from one year ago, 31 percent experienced either no change in salary or had their pay cut. Bonuses increased 2.8 percent in 2005, compared with one percent in 2004. INSET: CHIEF SECURITY OFFICERS: BIGGER RAISES, BUT NOT ALWAYS HIGH PAY.
