Presents the authors' comment on the article "Psychological Treatments," by D.H. Barlow, published in the December 2004 issue of the journal "American Psychologist." Background of the article; Concern over the proposal of using term psychological treatment instead of psychotherapy; Criticism of the suggestion that only doctoral-level psychologists have the knowledge of cognitive and behavioral science and social and interpersonal processes; Concern over the broad range of patients and problems addressed in the article; Description of overlap among nursing, health psychology, and Barlow's conceptualization of psychologists as providers of psychological treatment.
