APHA 133rd Annual Meeting to be held in December.

Abstract

This article provides information on the 133rd annual meeting of the American Public Health Association, which will be held from December 10 to 14, 2005 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The meeting will feature hundred of scientific and educational sessions, including roundtables, poster sessions, panel discussions and thousands of scientific papers on the latest public health issues. The meeting will also include networking and continuing education opportunities. Although the annual meeting will have a theme of Evidence-Based Policy and Practice, the event will also have a secondary focus on emergency preparedness and disaster relief in the wake of the hurricanes that devastated the U.S. Gulf Coast. The 133rd annual meeting will include presentations by renowned public health advocates, including U.S. Senator John Kerry, who was confirmed as the keynote speaker for the opening session. Also at the opening session will be Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and Maryland State Representative Shirley Nathan-Pulliam, who are two of the association's Distinguished Public Health Legislators of the Year.
