Abstract
- This article presents news briefs related to socio-political issues in New York. Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion held a public meeting to address concerns about the lack of pedestrian safety in the Bronx and its deadly effects on children. Over one-third of the pedestrians hit in the last three years, in the Bronx are children 14 and under. New York City Schools Chancellor Joel I. Klein joined New York Jets President L. Jay Cross and linebacker Victor Hobson to announce the Heads Up! Program, a new partnership between the U.S. Department of Education and the football team New York Jets.
