Abstract
- The article presents an editorial regarding the high stroke mortality in Bangladeshi populations in Great Britain. The editor responds to a paper by Wild et al. titled "Persistence of substantial inequalities in cardiovascular disease mortality by country of birth in England and Wales 2001-2003." Bangladeshi men tend to have a high prevalence of diabetes, smoking, physical inactivity and other risk factors. The editor suggests that researchers investigate squatting and straining at stool, vitamin D deficiency, infection, and the impact of smoking and chewing tobacco as reasons why Bangladeshi have high stroke mortality.
