CIVILIAN AND MILITARY UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES -- OVERVIEW OF EUROPEAN AND AMERICAN EFFORTS AND CHALLENGES FOR THE FUTURE.

This review paper presents European and partly American efforts in the area of design and application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles into civilian economy. Some European projects under the auspices of the V European Framework Program are described, i.e. UAVNET, USICO & CAPECON projects. Selected results obtained mainly within UAVNET project are briefly presented, especially those addressed to safety, competitiveness, cost and potential civilian application.
