Abstract

Abstract: The process of neutron leaking from a 14MeV neutron source facility was analyzed by calculations and experiments. The experiments were performed at the Fusion Neutron Source (FNS) facility of the Japan Atomic Energy Institute, Tokai-mura, Japan, which has a port on the roof for skyshine experiments, and a 3He counter surrounded with a polyethylene moderator of different thicknesses was used to estimate the energy spectra and dose distributions. The 3He counter with a 3-cm-thick moderator was also used for dose measurements, and the doses evaluated by the counter counts and the calculated count-to-dose conversion factor agreed with the calculations to within ∼30%. The dose distribution was found to fit a simple analytical expression, and the parameters and are discussed. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
