Abstract
- The article describes a test suitable for children of 3-6 years of age, able to measure the benefit of bilateral cochlear implantation for localization of sound source under monaural and binaural conditions. The test proved to he generally valid, repeatable and able to quantify the benefits deriving from binaural listening in terms of identification of the source of sound. The application of this improved test on a higher number of implanted and aided children will allow a standardization of the test itself. It can be used in future to study the performances of sound localization in noise, and also in comparison with monaurally implanted and aided patients.
