Abstract

The article focuses on the status of the relief efforts in the regions affected by the Indian Ocean tsunamis that struck South Asia in December 2004. Lack of coordination among charities and government agencies is one of the reasons behind the slow progress of the relief effort. In Indonesia, some of the tsunami survivors are still living in makeshift huts. U.S. nonprofit organizations said that they are aware of how their performance are being watched and that they must prove to the donors that the funds are being spent wisely.
