Abstract
- The article focuses on the proble, of securing publicly accessible computers. Securing public access workstations should be a significant part of any library's network and information-security strategy because of the sensitive information patrons enter on these workstations. Like many public libraries, Johnson County Library of Kansas City has a formal policy that lets our patrons know that the library is not responsible for any liability that may occur as a result of the disclosure of any personal information over its public computers and network. The purpose of this kind of a policy, in my mind, is to make our users aware that public computers are not secure media and that third parties may be able to obtain information regarding their activities.
