Abstract
- The article discusses how social exclusion has affected the health service sector in Great Britain. According to the author, it is important that every midwife examines their own thoughts, feelings and prejudices, because it would appear that one part of the problem is that a small minority of health professionals harbour negative attitudes towards some groups, which can only be based on ignorance and tired stereotypes. Midwifery leaders often discuss the challenges of making care individualized but if people and health professionals in particular harbour resentments and prejudices then it will be even harder to offer individualized care to all women.
