Abstract

The article presents the major issues that made an impact on the health care industry in the U.S. in 2005. Healthcare providers respond to help the victims of the Asian tsunami in January. President George W. Bush proposes a $2.57 trillion budget that will protect Medicare but contains $60 billion in Medicaid spending cuts over a decade in February. According to a report released by HealthGrades in May, a number of adverse patient-safety incidents is increasing in hospitals and the gap widens between the best performing hospitals and the worst.
