Abstract: The article reports that two northeasters that hit the Jersey Shore in October have caused the beach to erode so far that homes may be in danger. An estimated nine million cubic feet of sand was lost in the storms. The beaches usually protect the shore in the harsh winter months and expand when the weather mellows in the summer.
