Abstract

The article due to rising costs, the U.S. Congress is cutting milspace projects. The $453.5-billion Fiscal 2006 Defense appropriations bill, passed late last month, also shows the Congress is willing to block the White House and Pentagon from killing programs, like Lockheed Martin Corp.'s C-130J transport or the Boeing Co.'s F-15 Strike Eagle, that mean thousands of defense industry jobs back home. The multinational Joint Strike Fighter program will receive $4.8 billion for research and development, $200 million less than the Pentagon requested, because of instability in the aircraft's design.
