Abstract

The article presents a survey on the knowledge of and application of skin care measures by hairdressers in Dundee, Scotland. Of the 63 participants, 61 percent had features of atopy while another 58 percent were found to be suffering from symptoms of eczema. Only 94 percent were aware that moisturizers should be used liberally. Sixty-six percent of hairdressers who wear latex gloves in perming. However, ten percent of latex glove users were allergic to it. The investigators affirmed that 15 percent of the respondents have no knowledge about hand care.
