Abstract

The article reports on the application of model-based languages and risk analysis methodologies in NASA agency to raise software development to the level of hardware development. According to the report, the application aims to achieve a fusion of systems and software engineering by replacing conventional software development techniques with capability engineering that focuses on a system's full set of functionality. The author also includes a discussion on the agency's future systems mission, baseline review of the ISS Software, ISS architecture, ISS change process and costs, and others.
