Abstract

The author relates her experiences as a tennis player. She won at the U.S. Women's National Championship in 1945, beating tennis player Pauline Betz who won the championship cup for three consecutive years beginning in 1942. Before winning at the tournament, she was famous for becoming the constant runner-up. Husband tennis player Elwood Cooke had influenced her to improve her abilities as an athlete.
