Abstract

This article reports on the recent vote of New York City's transit workers turning down an agreement with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. After the strike in December, city officials were hopeful that the agreement would be accepted, but apparently workers were upset with the changes made to pensions and medical insurance payments. Younger workers, who were most affected by the pension issue, felt as though they were not receiving any increases. INSET: Rejected Union Contracts.
