- Relates how the Nautilus submarine of the U.S. Navy found the passage en route to the North Pole. Completion of the submerged run of the submarine from Pearl Harbor to the Aleutian Island in Hawaii on July 26, 1958; Change of the sea-water temperature when the submarine approached the Siberian currents; Plan of the crew to find a way into the Atlantic through the Greenland-Svalbard portal.
