Abstract: The development of a diagnostically based curriculum for a group of five year old, psychosocially deprived, mentally retarded children is described. The effects of the treatment on personal and social adjustment and on changes in intelligence and language are presented for the first year experimental and control groups following both their kindergarten and first grade experiences.
