Abstract
- The article provides information for the teacher of young children in the introduction of scissors, the refinement of cutting skills, and the correction of habits that have led to problems in this area. It appears to the writers that there is a more significant role for cutting than the traditional uses. The author points out that a pair of scissors could serve as an aid to retention, as a tracking tool and they could provide the child with visible and tactile answers. It suggests the sequence in teaching cutting skills after the child has mastered the basic fine muscle operations in handling scissors.
