Abstract
- The article focuses on the U.S. Marine Band. The musical group has played for every chief executive since George Washington. The members of the band are specifically assigned to musical duty and are excused from formations and drills. A bill was introduced to abolish the band during the administration of President Ulysses Grant in June 1876.
